SMITH PROJECT
Project: Collected Conversations
A moody, living room made for hosting. This is where every seat feels intentional and the vibe hits the moment you walk in. Expect browns, deep greens, touches of burgundy/wine, inky black, and warm natural wood tones, layered in a way that feels collected over time (not trendy).
The end result: comfortable seating for 6–8 and a space that makes people want to stay awhile.
CLIENT GOALS
Here’s a quick recap of the goals we discussed for your space — what you want it to feel like, how you plan to use it, and the overall vibe we’re aiming for. Take a moment to review and let me know if there’s anything you’d like to add or adjust! Feel free to share your thoughts by text at 919-322-8170.
MATERIAL PALETTE
Here’s a collection of colors, fabrics, finishes, and textures I’m considering for your project. This helps set the tone and visual foundation for everything.
MOOD BOARD
This board sets the vibe for your space—showing colors, textures, and pieces that reflect the overall feel we’re going for. It’s not the final design, just a visual guide to make sure we’re headed in the right direction. Let me know what you’re loving or what you’d like to adjust!
We’ve revised the Collected Conversations living room concept to lean more into a modern lounge vibe with mid-century / 70s influence—richer + moodier than the first direction. The chocolate brown sofa is the main feature, grounded by a brown textured rug, warmed up with brass, and layered with burgundy/wine accents in the pillows + art.
You’ll see two mood board options: one highlights the windows with soft linen curtains, and the other brings in hunter green curtains for a deeper, more dramatic feel. For seating, the chair you see in each concept is intended to be the main accent chair, and we’re planning to pair it with a second chair that’s different—maybe with a pattern or a new texture—so the room feels collected and intentional.
Also, for the entryway, I’d love your preference on how you want that first “welcome moment” to feel when you walk in. Would you rather have a console table (for styling + a drop zone), a bench (for shoes + a cozy landing spot), or would you prefer we keep it clean and open/empty for a more minimal look?
Layout Options
As you’re looking through the layout options, pay attention to what feels most natural to you and which setup you feel like you’d use the most in your everyday living. Your input really helps me when it comes to choosing the right furniture pieces and making sure everything supports how you actually live in the space.
The furnishings can always be moved around later to accommodate other layouts if needed, but your preference helps me move forward in the best direction.
Initial Selections
As you review these initial selections, I want you to focus mainly on the styles of the pieces being suggested. This stage is less about the exact items and more about understanding what direction feels right to you.
If there are any colors you’re not loving, let me know. Same with styles — tell me what you like, what you don’t like, and anything that really stands out that you’d want to explore more.
While these may not be the final options for your living room, your feedback helps me refine the vision and continue moving forward in a way that feels most aligned with you and your space.
CONCEPT
The goal for this living room was to create a warm, lounge-inspired space that feels layered, inviting, and sophisticated. Every element was selected to support comfort, conversation, and a curated aesthetic that feels intentional yet livable.
