Textured in Tulum Project

Client Goals

Here’s a quick recap of the goals we discussed for your space — what you want it to feel like, how you plan to use it, and the overall vibe we’re aiming for. Take a moment to review and let me know if there’s anything you’d like to add or adjust!

Mood Board

Think of it as the “vibe preview” — it helps you see how everything will come together before any purchasing or installation happens. This is where we align on direction, mood, and style to make sure the design feels intentional, cohesive, and true to you.

Once approved, the mood board guides all sourcing and design decisions moving forward.

Textured in Tulum – Living Room Direction

For your living room, we’re pulling inspiration from pieces you already have — like your sofa and area rug — and allowing those to guide the overall tone of the space. The goal is to create something that feels layered, airy, and culturally rich, while still calm and welcoming.

To bring in that subtle Tulum influence, we’ll be incorporating natural textures like woven grasses, warm woods, and organic materials. These elements will help soften the space and give it that relaxed, lived-in feel without overwhelming the room. Think tactile finishes, earthy layers, and pieces that feel collected rather than overly styled.

We’re also introducing a rust/burnt orange accent throughout the space. This color will show up intentionally — possibly in accent chairs, pillows, and window treatments — to create warmth and visual connection to other areas of your home. It will balance beautifully with your neutrals while adding depth and personality.

On the TV wall, we’re exploring the option of wallpaper to introduce cultural texture and subtle pattern. This would give that wall more presence and intention, creating a strong backdrop that still feels organic and grounded. The pattern would be thoughtfully selected to complement your palette and not compete with the rest of the room.

We’re also considering a new entryway table that visually relates to the TV stand. The goal here is cohesion — making sure sightlines between the entry and living space feel connected and curated rather than separate.

Behind the sofa, we’ll design a meaningful yet impactful gallery wall. This will be a mix of personal pieces and curated artwork, layered in a way that feels thoughtful and elevated. The intention is for this wall to feel like a story — something that reflects you, not just fills space.

Overall, this living room will feel textured, warm, and intentional — balancing cultural influence, natural materials, and refined comfort. Every layer will support the idea of creating a space that feels both grounding and expressive.

Material Palette

Here’s a collection of colors, fabrics, finishes, and textures for your project. This helps set the tone and visual foundation for everything.

Material Palette + Layering Direction

The material palette for your living room leans warm, soft, and earthy — creating a space that feels airy but grounded. We’re working with tones like deep olive, moss, gingerbread browns, soft pale neutrals, and touches of shadowy depth to give the room dimension without making it feel heavy.

Texture will be a major part of the design story. Woven grass elements, natural fibers, warm woods, and subtle organic finishes will help bring in that relaxed Tulum influence. These layers will keep the room from feeling flat and instead make it feel collected, intentional, and lived in.

For the TV wall, we’re exploring a patterned wallpaper that introduces cultural movement and texture. This could be applied across the full wall or used more strategically on either side to frame the television. Either option would add depth and visual interest while still keeping the space cohesive and elevated. The pattern will feel organic and rhythmic — not overpowering — so it complements the sofa, rug, and overall palette.

We’re also looking to introduce sculptural forms throughout the room. This may show up through totem-inspired decor, carved wood pieces, statement vases, or unique accent objects. These elements will add artistry and personality while reinforcing the textured, culturally layered direction of the space.

Overall, the materials in this room will feel warm and tactile — balancing softness with structure, pattern with calm, and shape with simplicity. The goal is a space that feels thoughtfully layered, expressive, and beautifully grounded.

Initial Selections

These pieces are initial selections to help us begin shaping the overall direction of your space. You’ll see a range of wallpaper, chairs, and coffee tables that explore different silhouettes, proportions, and subtle color variations.

As you review, focus less on whether something feels “perfect” and more on what stands out to you.

  • Do you prefer softer, curved shapes or cleaner, structured lines?

  • Are you drawn to lighter tones, deeper hues, or something in between?

  • What feels comfortable and aligned with how you want the room to function?

  • Is there anything that immediately feels like a no?

This phase is simply about understanding your preferences and refining our direction before we move into more finalized sourcing. Your feedback here will guide the next round of selections and help ensure we’re creating a space that truly reflects you.

Concept

The design concept is the overall vision and creative direction for your space. This goes beyond individual pieces and focuses on how everything works together — colors, textures, materials, finishes, and styling details.

It tells the story of the room and sets the tone for how the space will feel once completed. The concept guides all design decisions moving forward, ensuring the final space feels cohesive, intentional, and aligned with your style.
